SUMMARY:Alex Minasian Jazz Trio
DESCRIPTION:To close out our summer reading program\, enjoy an afternoon of
jazz with the Alex Minasian Trio. Their musical selections will honor the
legends of jazz music\, including Charlie Parker and Thelonious Monk\, as
well as music from the Great American Songbook.\n\nWith two degrees from
NYU\, Alex Minasian has established himself—at a remarkably young
 age—as a versatile pianist\, educator\, and impresario working across a
wide range of musical genres.\n\nAs a pianist\, Alex studied with some of
the most revered figures in jazz history\, including Hank Jones\, Don
Friedman\, Jean-Michel Pilc\, and James Williams. \n\nHe has shared the
stage with legendary artists such as James Ingram\, Arturo Sandoval\,
 Questlove\, Sam Moore\, Marilyn McCoo\, Curtis Fuller\, Clark Terry\, and
alongside jazz greats including Brian Lynch\, Annie Ross\, Billy Pierce\,
 Sheila Jordan\, Eric Alexander\, and Hugh Masekela.\n\nIn 2013\, Minasian\,
Disterheft\, and veteran drummer Steve Williams (known for his work with
Shirley Horn) formed the Hanky Panky Trio in honor of Hank Jones. The trio
was featured in Season 2 of the hit Netflix series Orange Is the New Black
and has performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival with Sheila Jordan\, as
well as at the Istanbul Jazz Festival.\n\nCurrently\, Alex tours with Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame group Little Anthony and the Imperials and soul
legend Candi Staton. To learn more\, check out his website.\n\nFor
